So I went to see a preview of Shaun of the Dead last night with a co-worker and her husband. Have you heard of this film? It's quite popular over in England. Sort of a comedy/horror/romance about a slacker in North London who's at the crossroads between hanging out at the pub forever with his best friend or finally making some sort of commitment to his girlfriend, all the while fighting zombies. It was pretty damn good in that the interpersonal relationships didn't get turned into silly candy by either the comedy or the horror aspects in the film. The audience was pretty funny. I saw every trendy video store clerk, comic book store groupie, and film festival veteran in town there. The director and two stars were there taking questions, though, truth be told, it seemed like they just wanted to get it over with so that they could go get drunk.
