valentines, awards, and carpets

We celebrated Valentine's Day with our traditional--and very delicious--homemade crabcakes, served with slices of avocado and tater tots, followed by cheesecake from Termini. We watched Big Fish, which never fails to get me teary. I gave her a necklace from the de Young Museum in San Francisco and she gave me the previously mentioned robot flask she bought me last week.

We also tried to see The Reader, which was sold out due to next week's Academy Awards. Speaking of which we're going to a party for the Awards where we're meant to dress up like characters from any of the nominated films, so I have to come up with something. With a little head shaving and some powder in my beard, I could probably pull off Jeff Bridges' character from Iron Man, though I'd rather not. Hmmmm.... was Paul Giamatti in anything Oscar-worthy last year?

And finally, even though, it's usually pretty boring, I can't help but post one image I came across from the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Irina Sheik painted to look like she's wearing a badly tattered Turkish carpet.
