Let the Right One In
Saw a great vampire movie last weekend. No, not Twilight. It was a Swedish film called Let The Right One In. Based on a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, it's about an unpopular twelve-year old boy living in the suburbs around Stockholm and the friendship he forms with Eli. Eli appears to be a normal twelve-year old girl, a little odd perhaps, but Eli's hiding some terrible secrets. They're two good characters and their friendship makes for a great story that is both endearing and incredibly creepy.

It's a beautifully shot film, but the pacing--very Northern European, slow, cool, and sleepy--takes a little getting used to for American audiences. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone in the mood for an unusual vampire story.

I thought that movie was excellent. Beautifully shot. And that last scene at the pool has somehow stuck with me.
