jury duty
Had to report for jury duty tuesday. After a long day of sitting, being dragged out to courtrooms for more sitting, then back down to the big sitting room to continue sitting, I finally ended up getting selected for a civil case, a silly fender bender that never should have gone to court. Today is day two of the trial. Hopefully it ends today, but who knows?

It's so boring I can hardly stand it. The only good part is that I get to have lunch at places in another part of town for a change.

I've never had the misfortune of being selected for jury duty. Hopefully they don't find me.

My first time too. Hopefully I can go another four decades without being called in.

"That's not an ass; that's literature."

I like that picture.

I got called in for jury duty one time, but they didn't make me stick around too long before they sent me home. I never got around to changing my drivers license over to this town either, and when I get letters from Salina, my mom just tells them I don't live there anymore. I wonder if I will eventually get in trouble for this.

Hm, at least it's not a horrid murder or something. We don't have jury duty in Serbia.

Jeezus.......we have to do two weeks duty if we're called, and I didn't get selected for a single case, so spent 10 days sat in a large cupboard watching daytime TV and reading every page of every daily paper. I was working as a Tutor at the time, and didn't have any courses booked those 2 weeks, so I wasn't losing any pay - so, alas, I also received not one penny for my dutiful efforts. Tsk....

Damn, that sounds annoying. I think they used to do the two week thing here, but relaxed it down to its current form, which is two days or the length of whatever trial you get picked up for.
