et dieu... créa la femme
This weekend K. and I watched And God Created Woman, the film which launched the career of sex kitten turned inciter of racial hatred Bridget Bardot. Written and directed by Roger Vadim (Barbarella), it tells a fairly sexist story of eighteen-year-old, erotically-charged, consistantly barefoot Juliette whose spoiled antics bring troubles aplenty to the handful of men tripping over each other to get what they want from her. While it had a few moments of palpable drama, the story operated mostly as an excuse to put the pouty Bardot in a series of sexy, pin-up girl poses and scenarios, culminating in her famous, erotic, tabletop mambo dance that drives at least one man mad.

I feel no guilt, only joy for putting that awesome song in your head. In fact, I think I'll listen to the soundtrack while I eat my lunch.

Bardot
Nothing speaks to us of how different history is from having been there as strongly as revisiting a movie from our youth.

Hunh. Apparently Bardot has gotten to the point where she'd like us all to get off her lawn. Crazy!

Personally, I never got much from her in the way of actual talent.

Yeah, and despite that famous scene, she's not even much of a dancer. Cute though...

I watched that a month or so ago and found the movie unimpressive also. But Bardot certainly was cute.
