I can't even remember another year when there were so many big budget popcorn movies I was so looking forward to. Next week is Iron Man with the perfect casting of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Then the week after that the Wachowski siblings toss aside the darkness and gloom of the Matrix trilogy for an eye-poppingly colorful, more-or-less live-action take on Speed Racer that appears gleefully unembarrassed by its source material. Then in mid-June, it's the Incredible Hulk which promises to actually be entertaining this time around. And in July, maestro Guillermo Del Toro treats us to Hellboy II: The Golden Army. And then Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins sequel Dark Knight.
That should be enough superheroics to keep my head spinning for the rest of the year, but if they somehow aren't enough to satisfy me, there's also the less exciting Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Prince Caspian, Get Smart, Hancock, and Wanted.
