one of our submarines is missing....
I need to kill some time in West Philly tonight between work and going to see a friend's band, so I think I'm going to go see Doomsday. I'm not sure what I think of it from the commercials, but the writer/director Neil Marshall's last film The Descent was my absolute favorite from the 2006 film festival, so I have to give this one a try too.

Also, zeeke was concerned that I didn't sound excited enough about this year's film festival, so let me just say for the record that I am very, very excited. I'm even waving a little flag. A flag with subtitles on it.

Listening to: me singing Thomas Dolby songs (to the annoyance of my cubical mate)

What is it about movies set in post-apocalyptic worlds that have all the characters wearing expensive clothes and having high maintenance hair?

"Right! Tomorrow we're going to hijack a caravan carrying the last of America's strategic hair gel and black leather pump reserves."

I saw Doomsday two nights ago. I thought it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It was like Road Warrior and Waterworld, except very very dumb. It was like the script for a video game that isn't any good. And always looking for a fresh corpse to explode like a blood-filled water balloon.

The bigger question is do you enjoy the films. Which you can't answer until you've seen them.

Good luck and as always I look forward to your reviews.
