Finally saw Stardust sunday night and quite enjoyed it. I never read the book, but feared nonetheless that the presence of Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro would ruin it. Nothing against them as actors; they just seemed so clearly wrong for the project. But everybody in it did fine. The story bounced along quite effortlessly for something written by Gaiman and director Matthew Vaughn proved that he can do far more than just crime stories (bring on The Might Thor, I say). And hey! Iceland even made a cameo in the film! The best part was the hilarious reactions of the seven princes at various points, although Ricky Gervais also came perilously close to stealing the show. All in all, I'd say that reviewers who called it a contemporary version of The Princess Bride were not too off, although it certainly falls short of that masterpiece.
