stew and heroes
Ok, the beef stew (recipe) was even better than I thought and I no longer regret using the super cheap cut of meat.

In other news, I'm not sure what I think of Heroes any more. The first two episodes of the season were awful and slow. The second two were slightly better. And last night's jumped up to a solid ok just because Kristen Bell was on it, basically playing an evil version of Veronica Mars with electricty powers. But shouldn't it be better than this? At this point, most of my good will from last season is drained away and I think I'd rather watch Charlie Sheen's sitcom.

With so many storylines going on at once, Heroes' plot development moves horribly slow. A torturing, a punch and a force push from Peter and that storylines over. A pep talk from Hiro to Kensei and that one's done. Weirdo West drilling Claire with a few questions, done. By the end of an episode it feels like it's been ten minutes.

I'll stick with Smallville and Pushing Daisies, the latter of which is beautifully excellent. Easily the best thing on television. Makes me think of Amelie + Tim Burton + Gilmore Girls. Cute, dark, fast and witty.

Yeah, Pushing Daisies really is the best thing out there.

I wish I could get more behind Smallville, because I know so many people who love it, but it rarely hooks me.

It's gotten a lot better recently, despite the loss of John Schneider's Jonathan Kent. And in my case I got hooked back when it started, and have amazingly sat through the begrudgingly stupid and drolling episodes to date. But I'm a Clark Kent junkie, so I'll watch an episode if it has any Superman powers in it. :P

I watched part of a couple episodes, but Heroes is very boring, stupid, and annoying to me.

On an entirely other topic, are The Riches coming back to TV anytime soon? Or ever?

Yup, but not til spring.
