Celebrated the girl's birthday this weekend with a trip to New Hope on saturday (groovy mexican food! vanilla birthday cake ice cream at Gerensers! jewelry! hot sauce!) and dinner and a movie on sunday ("The Hoax" followed by insanely healthy Chinese food at Mustard Greens). Beautiful summer weather for all of it, which is great and all except for that whole skipping straight from Winter to Summer business.

Then came home sunday night to find some pals had stuffed a used Gameboy DS and copy of the new Pokemon game into the mail slot for me! Certainly makes the subway ride go faster than that Philip Jose Farmer novel I was reading.

Ooh, what kind of jewelry?

A "namaste" necklace with an aum symbol was purchased, but certain other significant items were tried on and possibly even decided on.

I wasn't even thinking about "other significant items," but now I am jumping to conclusions with both feet...

I'm of course only refering to large clocks that we will wear around our necks.

Happy birthday to K!
I heard good things about Mustard Greens-- gotta give that place a try someday.
Please tell me The Hoax was good-- we're planning to see that soon, I think.
Good to see you at the ol' watering hole this weekend!

Re: Mustard Greens... K. loved it. I wanted more grease and decadence. Alternate name they should have used: Bean Sprout Kingdom

Re: The Hoax... I thought it was pretty good, but then Alfred Molina and Stanley Tucci in the same movie is a pretty easy sell for me. I was surprised by how many remarks of disdain for the main character were uttered by our Ritz audience. I guess they didn't know what sort of story they were in for.

I want a big bookcase like that. But not a big ass like that.
