After all the violent deaths I've seen in horror films and gangster films during the past two weeks of the film festival, you'd think I'd be anesthetized to real life violence, but I don't feel anesthetized at all.

I've noticed this in a lot of people, including myself. I don't think watching fictional violence actually hardens people, it just makes them think they can deal with it. Or it makes them more likely to joke about it, maybe.

Are you referring to Virginia Tech or something personal?
