costuming
Just got invited to an Oscars party where the guests are instructed to dress up as characters from one of the movies nominated for Best Costume Design.

Consulting my friend the internet, that gives me: "Curse Of The Golden Flower," "The Devil Wears Prada," "Dreamgirls," "Marie Antoinette" or "The Queen." I don't really fancy cross-dressing this time of year and that includes the robes worn by most of the dudes in "Curse Of The Golden Flower" and the powdered wigs and stockings that I assume they're wearing in "Marie Antoinette." So, as far as I reckon, that means I'm got the characters played by Jamie Fox (blue suit?) and Eddie Murphy (gold lame suit?) in "Dreamgirls." Or, I suppose, Tony Blair (pretty much any suit?). I guess Tony Blair is easy enough to pull off but I'd feel a bit icky.

Anything brilliant and yet easy concepts that I'm missing?

You could just dress up like one of the designers on "Prada"....

There are a handful of dudes in Prada. Pretty smartly dressed, too.

the fact that you're not out shopping for a wig and a handbag right at this moment is a tad disappointing. the queen, man, the queen!

Man, I'd have to go the whole nine yards to be her. Dress, wig, stockings, handbag... plus, I'd have to shave my beard.

Damn, I didn't even think about the beard.

How about a kilt a la James Cromwell in The Queen?

Good idea, but I'm still too mad at him for shooting Kevin Spacey.
