a very full weekend

Drinks friday night led to me acquiring the services of the girl's boss's boyfriend as my witty personal shopper on saturday morning so that I could find a snazzy thrift-store outfit for "the splatter zone" at "Evil Dead: The Musical" next weekend. I was trying my best for a late 70s look and I have to say the final outfit (including jacket, tie, and pants, all purchased for a cool Alexander Hamilton) would not have looked completely out of place on "The Dick Cavett Show" (which led to our creation of the vaguely naughty-sounding word "DickCavetty").

Saturday night went "bowling" at the North Bowl with some friends, where we never actually touched a bowling ball but had a blast nevertheless playing pool while waiting for a lane.

Then on sunday, the girl and I went to see "Pan's Labyrinth," which was even better than I had hoped (I'm still humming that damn infectious lullaby!) and lucked out in running into some friends who were also there seeing it, so we all went out for Persian food at The Aromatic House of Kabob, where the nice old lady who runs the place gave us this free grits-like appetizer that she mysteriously called "Jesus" which we ate heartilly because it was yummy and vaguely blasphemous.

Then we went home and finally took down the Christmas tree, because frankly after you've eaten Jesus, Christmas is officially over.
