Scanner Darkly

Saw "A Scanner Darkly." As an experience, I'd rate it pretty high, but as storytelling, it left a little to be desired. There were definite moments of brilliance, however, and they were pretty much worth my $9.00.

I'm still not sure if I'm ever going to accept the rotoscope animation. It's hard for me to look at sometimes and even after I get over that, it can distract me from what's happening. That said, the way people and objects are constantly shifting did remind me a lot of tripping on acid, so that at least made sense for the subject matter. The acting was mostly great. I loved Woody Harrelson, Rory Cochrane, and Robert Downey Jr. were all fantastic. Keanu was good and Winona was... well, she was Winona (I've either started hating her voice or stopped liking her acting, I'm not actually sure which).

Other than that, it's too damn hot and I think sleeping with the air conditioner on the past couple nights is messing up my breathing.
