miami vice

Watched the first episode of Miami Vice on TV last week. I had forgotten how good that show was in the beginning. By the end of its run, it was one of the worst shows ever. But for those first couple seasons, there was some genius blending of slick and gritty and going on there. It truly invoked the kind of paranoia and hopelessness of good film noir.

That said, I have no interest in seeing the new film version. Judging from the lengthy previews they were showing during the other night, it looks like Miami Vice in name only.
