long weekend
Tough to come back from such a long weekend.

Saw "Superman" monday and really didn't like it. It seemed under-written and flat to me. A lot of the plot didn't make any sense and the only character I felt any kind of empathy for was Lois' boyfriend. It drove me really crazy that they chose to portray Lois Lane as a ditz who only gets published because she knows Superman. It's so dated. In the comics world, her character's become the top investigative journalist in the world. She's confident, unflappable, relentless, brilliant, and tough. She's like the Batman of reporters. But in this film, she's reduced to nothing but Superman's ex-girfriend. Bah...

Yesterday, went to a couple barbeques and watched the World Cup. Oh, and the girlfriend decided the time was right to reveal the location of this blog (previously a carefully guarded secret), to some of her co-worker friends at one of the barbeques, so welcome to my newly-increased librarian readership!

Fortunately, I got to see some very good episodes of Justice League Unlimited yesterday, which definitely took the bad taste of mediocre Superman out of my mouth.

"For a comic book movie" I really didn't think it was that awful. Maybe that's because I don't read the actual comics.

Re: lois lame
Yeah, teeth-grinding moment, eh?

I suppose we were meant to find that to be a charming quirk about Lois rather than a random dose of misogyny on the part of the writer?
