A few highlights from the past couple days...
Lady Vengeance: The final part of Korean director Park Chan-wook’s amazing Vengeance Trilogy. Pretty damn good, but not as stunning as the second part, Oldboy, which was my second favorite film from last year's festival.
Romeo & Juliet Get Married: A cute and genuinely funny comedy from Brazil about two starcrossed lovers whose families are diehard fans of rival soccer teams.
Love & Hate: Another Romeo and Juliet story, this time the daughter of a Pakistani immigrant falls for the son of a white racist family in a working class English town. While the key story in the film is lovely and dramtic, there are actually several relationships in the film that skillfully sketch the broader racial climate even further.
