Going to see "Wicked" tonight. Should be fun. Unfortunately it's at the least comfortable theater in Philly, The Academy of Music, which has absolutely no legroom whatsoever, having been built, I assume, purely for the entertainment of children, contortionists and amputees. So, I'll need to prepare myself with plenty of advil and liquor. Also, our tickets are labled "obstructed view" so it remains to be seen how angry that will make me.

Wow, for a guy who's going to a free musical, I sound so grumpy in that paragraph. It's probably just because my girlfriend is about to go out of town for a week and a half and I'm already starting to miss her. Hopefully some springlike weather this weekend, plus the start of my film festival vacation will balance me out.

I saw it in NYC, and despite my general loathing for musicals, enjoyed it quite a bit.

but...how did it compare to the novel? was it an okay version?

i have a hard time envisioning the musical being any good at all, as i loved the book so. hrm. maybe i'm making mountains out of molehills.

...like that ever happens.

It wasn't particularly a good adaptation of the novel, I thought, but it's been a reaaaalllly long time since I've read it. I did *really* like the book, as well - I think I was just mildly amazed I liked any musical at all, but I think that was mostly because whoever was playing Elphaba was remarkable. Oh - come to think of it, you will hate the ending. Now I remember! Oh, definitely - you will hate the ending (it ends happily, and my hazy memory tells me the book didn't, did it? shoot. i can't remember.)

Grumpy, but funny. :D

absolument rien du tout
For no particular reason I thought I would browse some of your earlier work, namely your esteemed archive, back to day one, just for the perspective. I found a problem which I not infrequently experience with your wonderful bloggo anyway, namely that instead of the illustration I get a small rectangle with a red 'x'. Is it me? My firewall? I hope one of you computer geeks, sorry, genii can help. Yes, I know it's not a helpline, but as butt aficionadoes, you would'nt want to deprive me of the most lastingly beautiful of life's treasures; 'the erotic crossroads of the world'. Do you know the answer, por favor?

Yeah, some of the early photos date back to the days before I had dedicated image hosting (thank you very much, exacademic), and are unfortunately lost forever.
