Wednesday it was window guys, today it's plumbers. It's really strange giving total strangers free reign to our house, giving them free reign to bang on and rip apart anything they wish. Even though they're here at our bidding, it really feels like an invasion. Every noise they make is startling and worrisome to me. And the noises are endless. I wonder if I have some phobia going on? Maybe that's why I always want to do all the work in our house ourselves.

Ah, well. Nothing to do now, but lay back and think of England.

Window guys? You got new windows? I'm soooo unbelievably green with envy. Can I ask what they cost? Did you go with a big name company, or something local? Fuck. I want new windows!!

We got four new windows. Glass block windows for our street-facing basement windows (it's a city thing) and two sliders where old-fashioned air-conditioners used to be. We went with some local guys. It was like $1400.

Yeah, gone is the shame of being the ugliest house on the street. Plus, the added security is a definite bonus.

Odd. I have kitchen demo going on right now.

What kind of idiots are we that plan remodeling over the holidays?

(Okay, in my case, a married idiot.)

Yeah, seriously.

I was talking to one of the window guys about it and he said they always get a major surge in business right before the holidays. I reckon people start think about family get-togethers and holiday parties and suddenly panic about their home's resemblance to a crackhouse...

Hopefully they'll be done in a day. It's the prolonged plumber visits that really drive ya nuts.

Hope it all goes well :)
