So I caught myself up on the old episodes of "Surface" and I like it even more. Really, to call it Spielbergian is almost an understatement. One of the main storylines is basically the Richard Dreyfuss character from "Jaws" teaming up with the Richard Dreyfuss character from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" to investigate the dinosaurs from "Jurassic Park" (and they're going to have sex!). And the other main storyline is "E.T."
And yet strangely, it doesn't feel redundant or rehashed to me at all. The other thing it reminds me of is the original "V" mini-series from the 80s.
