Dollhouse
Watching the Middleman hunt Faith the Rogue Slayer while Helo and Romo from Battlestar sift through the wreckage of her last mission. Dollhouse is definitely no Firefly (or Buffy or Angel), but it's pretty amusing. Too bad about the friday night timeslot.

Dollhouse needs more tit.

I watched the pilot, and wasn't sure how I felt about it ...

Me too. The second episode was definitely better than the first.

I never saw Firefly, but I try to keep in mind that Buffy started off kind of poorly (though it was more entertaining), and that Angel's premier benefited a lot from being a "spin-off". Of course, BtVS had a lot of female empowerment behind it, whereas Dollhouse - while not anti-feminist - is really lacking in that area.

Incidentally, a lot of interviews with Joss mentioned him saying that the series doesn't hit its stride until the 6th or 7th episode. So maybe it'll get better.

Re: I
I hope it gets to live long enough to find that stride.

Yeah, Joss is a real weird can of worms feminism-wise. Kind of all over the place, which still puts him yards ahead of most television creators, I guess. I suspect Dollhouse is leading to a much more female-empowerment place than its starting at.

If you're interested, I'd be happy to loan you my Firefly DVDs. It's a great show.

Me too! Maybe it will. Some really crappy shows (like, ah, Knight Rider) are still around, so who knows.

Yeah, it does put him well ahead of a lot of shows and creators right now. Though I hear BSG is pretty good about portraying strong female characters - if true, that's nice to see in Sci-Fi.

And I probably should've mentioned this at the game, but I so don't have time right now to watch Firefly. If I remember, I'll ask you once the semester's over to borrow it. Thanks for the offer!

Anyone else believe BTVS and Angel was better when Evil-Angel was around? That simpering "oh, woo us, we can't be together" b.s. got old fast. Also the episodes with Spike seemed to be better too. But that's me and I could be wrong.

I like the picture. For a brief second I thought, "Whoa...where did the nudie shot of Eliza Dushku come from?" But on 2nd lee..ogl..look, I don't think so anymore. Who is she?
