the pen or the sword
Maybe it's because I've been playing real pen-and-paper D&D lately, but I played World of Warcraft for a few hours last night and didn't enjoy it as much as I expected. With any luck, the ten day free trial may be all I need and the novel writing won't suffer as greatly as I feared.

WoW _is_ a bit boring when you've actually done any RPGing involving real people. It's twitch-response stuff, see goal fill goal get points. (That is, however, an easy and profitable way for companies to make money.)

I envy you. I haven't played D&D in two or three years now. I miss it so much! We always have trouble finding a willing DM, ever since I broke up with Super-rat who had a thing for control so he was always willing to toy around with our characters' fates (and tho I hate to admit it he was pretty awesome at it). Everybody else always prefers to play, so that it's really hard to get anyone to DM with continuity.
