stay well and don't die
Since K. and I both love Charlotte Gainsbourg, we decided to watch Franco Zeffirelli's 1996 version of Jane Eyre. I thought it was really terrible. In order to focus on just the romance, they decided to cut out most of humor and all but a little of the gothic horror. I realize you have to lose a lot of Bronte's novel to make it into a two hour film, but when you cut away so much of the witty reparte, I don't see why the characters even fall in love. Bah, give me the 2006 BBC mini-series over this any day. In fact, give it to me right now.

We watched Zeffirelli's version in high school. There was all this talk of it being titillating, but it was boring. 'trix

You mean Zeffirelli's version of "Romeo and Juliet," right? Yeah, we saw that in high school too. The only movie I actually dig by him is "Tea With Mussolini."

Oh, I remember seeing that ages ago. Totally dated, really a travesty of the novel. Very Hollywood-ized, if I recall correctly.

*snarf*

I just meant that they emphasized the romance over other elements.

Did Jane have a nice rack, maybe?

Well, she's adorable, but I wouldn't really say she's all that much... ummm... rackwise.
